$17.99 - CAL939

Zeffer Hills

Our Chardonnay is not-quite-brilliant lemon yellow in color and begins with a complex nose of white flowers, lemon, apple, banana, toast, nuts and not-sweet butterscotch. It delivers green apple, lemon zest and tropical fruit flavors with plenty of acidity. Integrated, balanced and supported by still fresh acidity.

Technical Info

Taste:

Apple, pear and peach qualities as well as toast, butter and vanilla from oak treatment

Varietal:

100% Chardonnay, 98.3% Edna Valley Chardonnay

Region:

The Edna Valley is located along California’s Central Coast, a prime growing area for many varietals. Its proximity to the ocean makes for hot days and cool nights which extend the growing period and result in slower ripening, quality grapes.

Winemaking:

This wine spent time “on the lees” and in oak. What does this do for Chardonnay? Lees are the spent yeast cells that are left at the bottom of the tank or barrel after fermentation. Allowing the wine to sit “on the lees” adds complexity to the wine. Oak provides a delicate vanilla quality to the wine.
