2016 – Medium bodied red

Barely translucent brick; medium body. Integrated, herbaceous nose of brown and red fruits notes with tree bark-to-plank hints. Aromas include plums, raspberries, blackberry crumble, and cocoa powder. Integrated in the mouth, good feel, balance and extraction. Tastes as it smells—good structural acidity supports the fruit allowing it to pop a bit. Flavors of plums and raspberries, along with cedar, cloves, and vanilla.

Red components were tank fermented and barrel aged, white components all-stainless-steel all-the-time. The two tiny white components are our nod to historical red wine making in Tuscany and the Northern Rhone. There used to be a small amount of white wine blended into Chiantis for suppleness and accessibility; many top Cote Roties still contain a small percentage of Viognier.
