Small Hours Zinfandel

2018 – Medium to full bodied red

Slightly murky garnet; medium-to-full body. Herbaceous, briary nose—tree bark, and earthy berry fruit. Nice varietal fruit extraction—juicy raspberry and blackberry flavors dominate in the mouth, good weight, feel & balance plus an ethereal finish.

Our-own-grapes 78.02% Paso Robles Zinfandel, and 7.94% Petite Sirah were machine-picked November 8, 2018 (Zinfandel), October 16 and October 23, 2018 (Petite Sirah). All lots sorted, de-stemmed & crushed, followed by cold soaking, alcoholic fermentation, extended maceration then malolactic fermentation. Pressing before starting aging in oenotanks by early January 2019. A portion of each lot remained in stainless steel to preserve the varietal fruit's freshness. Final blend with the Lodi components was assembled just prior to bottling.
