Celebrate the friends you love with five Galentine’s Day brunch and wine pairings. By Wine Guide and Guest Blogger, Jenna M Shreve.

Our female friends we come to rely on, the ones we bare our souls to, the besties that know us better than we know ourselves sometimes, should all be celebrated. And wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were such a day? It just so happens that February 13th is a day just for them. Galentine’s Day is meant to celebrate the women in our life that have our back and laugh with us when we do something embarrassingly silly. It’s a holiday all about declaring love for the girls who make up our support system.

Grab your favorite gal pals and throw yourselves a grand Galentine’s Day celebration filled with everything red and pink from streamers and balloons to the tablecloth and place settings. And all that is left to figure out is what to serve these amazing women that deserve to be celebrated.

Galentine’s Brunch

Brunch is designed to take the place of two meals and often consists of an array of richly prepared dishes from finger foods, bite-sized consumables, breaded or pastry type options, and even more luxurious fare. Choosing to host a Galentine’s brunch celebration is a perfect time for friends to gather and connect in a relaxing atmosphere.

Frittaffles & 2021 Amico de Penna, Grechetto

Obviously, serving anything in a heart shape from pancakes, chocolates, candied strawberries, bagel bite pizzas with heart shaped pepperoni, to donuts with heart shaped sprinkles is always fun and festive. But why don’t we step it up a notch and celebrate our amazing friendships by serving a more delectable spread like Frittaffles – Yep, that’s right frittata waffles. When serving bite-sized portions, the goal is to have mouthfuls of flavors exploding with the first bite and Frittaffles will do just that with the potato and egg consistency, crispy bacon (and who doesn’t love bacon?!) and the seared seasonings with the waffle branding. And what better to enjoy every savory bite with someone that you would consider to be a pen pal (if you still wrote letters) than to pair it with a light crisp glass of 2021 Amico de Penna Grechetto. The higher acidity in this Italian wine with a concentration of lemon/lime, nuts and herbs appreciate the salts in the Frittata waffles and will overcome even those that are not largely fans of eggs.

Pear and Goat Cheese Crostini & 2021 Lancre, Rosé

Along with what will soon be your favorite Frittata dish, consider serving Pear Crostini with Honey Hazelnut Goat Cheese for those that may opt for a healthier lifestyle New Year’s resolution since it offers lower calories, carbs, and is lower in fats. These will be loved by all, and they also make a great appetizer – simple, and delicious. The varying textures and flavors are astoundingly palate pleasing and also pair well with a high acidic wine such as the Frittaffles but also enjoyed with a fresh crisp versatile, dry rosé like our 2021 Lancre from the Mendoza region of Argentina. The complimentary flavors of the zesty cheese, and honey will enhance the red berry flavors in this eye-catching pink drink.

Chocolatey Pancakes & 2021 Small Hours, Zinfandel

And of course, you can still throw in heart shaped pancakes, but not just any run of the mill pancake recipes will do for these fabulous warrior friends. Instead serve up a batch of Double Chocolate Strawberry Pancakes or opt for Chocolate Stuffed Pancakes and share a bottle of fruit forward Zinfandel like our latest release, 2021 Small Hours, or for our Cab fans, even our Bentgate Cabernet Sauvignon loves all things chocolate, and for those that prefer a sweeter wine for their sweeter food fare, our sassy and classy in a glass #1 top seller New York lady, Fissata Sweet Red, will win your gal pals heart.

Charcuterie & 2020 Santoreggia, Sangiovese

Include a Galentine’s Charcuterie with all the favorite palatable go-to cheeses, meats, fresh and dried fruits, crackers/breads, chocolates, and more. With so many options available to create an eye-catching board, you really cannot go wrong. Need more inspiration? Check out this post by Sandy at the ‘Reluctant Entertainer’. And what goes better with charcuteries than wine. Crisp white wines, like our 2021 Zapatazo, Torrontés, pair nicely with charcuterie meats and cheeses. Adding in chocolates, dried cranberries, and hearty cheeses screams red wine to me – Ideal for Pinot Noir fans, I love pairing with a Tuscan Sangiovese like our 2020 Santoreggia, Sangiovese. The ripe berry and cherry flavors with just the right smokey, peppery element brings together enviable flavors.

Cotton Candy Cocktail with Three Hearts Fizzy Rosé

And of course, don’t forget to toast this special occasion. Offering up a toast to these amazing ladies and the friendships you hold dear is as important as the cocktail you toast them with. Choose an elegant show stopping cocktail that will be remembered for many Galentine’s Day celebrations to come. This perfect, no cocktail shaker needed, drink is truly a treat. Simply pass out toasting glasses with a bit of cotton candy placed in each glass. Add a splash of St Grermain French Elderflower liqueur and top with Three Hearts Fizzy Rosé and enjoy.

Spending time honoring the women in our lives that make us better and stronger people has never been more important. Make sure to plan your next Galentine’s Day with these favorites for your favorites. Get in touch with a Wine Guide and start planning your Galentine’s Day Wine Tasting today.
