Plum, cherry and black tea combine with boysenberry jam, bacon, black pepper, smoke and graphite. Elements of cassis and spiced plum linger.
Grapes were sourced from vineyards across Sonoma County, including the Russian River Valley, one of California’s prime growing areas.
Merlot lends structure, suppleness and personality - think West Coast St Emilion. Syrah adds color and vif. It also tempers the herbaceousness of Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet and Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon brings traditional cassis flavors and provides heft, an almost truffle quality and a dust component. Petite Sirah, known for spiced plum qualities, also tempers the herbaceousness while adding some guts, spice, earthy agricultural elements and “age” to the final blend.
